Hot topic: Evangelicals Debate Global Warming

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Matthew Trumbull The atmosphere within the evangelical community has been heating up since the Evangelical Climate Initiative was introduced in early February. The statement, which is endorsed by more than 80 prominent evangelical leaders, asserts that climate change is an urgent problem and that the Christian faith mandates a strong response to global warming. Evangelicals have been reluctant to embrace environmental activism because of its connections with liberal agendas. The group as a whole has had a general tendency to prioritize spiritual rather than social and physical concerns. As scientific data increasingly supports observations of human-induced climate change, however, many are now taking action. It is a very appropriate move in terms of a biblical basis and, in fact, long overdue, said Fred Van Dyke, who teaches environmental ethics at Wheaton College. The evangelical community has long associated the environmental agenda with a liberal agenda, but they are getting over it. Roy Spencer, principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and former senior climate scientist with NASAs Marshall Space Flight Center, said he is concerned that the initiative focuses too strongly on activism and not enough on science. He helped the Interfaith Stewardship Alliance draft a 19-page monograph on global warming called An Examination of the Scientific, Ethical and Theological Implications of Climate Change Policy. The alliance is a coalition of religious leaders, scientists, academics and policy experts committed to applying a biblical view of stewardship to environmental issues. In the monograph, the alliance said that climate change science remains inconclusive. We cannot say for certain how much the planet may be warming, how much is due to human activities versus natural cycles, or whether these changes in global temperature would be mostly good or mostly bad for the majority of people, Spencer wrote in the monograph. Other prominent evangelical figures such as Focus on the Family chairman James Dobson, and Chuck Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship Ministries have also said they are concerned about the Evangelical Climate Initiatives stance on environmental policy. The media, in particular, has misrepresented the effort as the majority opinion among evangelicals, said Cal Beisner, an associate professor of historical theology and social ethics at Knox Theological Seminary and an adviser for the initiative. Because of this, he worked hard to discourage the 30-million member National Association of Evangelicals which has refrained from establishing an official statement on climate change from endorsing the initiative. What I would caution against is equating fidelity to the gospel of Jesus Christ with endorsement of a particular environmental scenario or policy response to it, said Beisner. I am concerned that the ECIs call to action hazards crossing the line in that regard. Despite their differences, ECI and the alliance both state that global warming is a problem that must be addressed, and both are motivated by a concern for those living in poverty. The tension is over the appropriate policy response. ECI urges preventative action and argues mandatory emissions reduction policy is necessary to combat the progress of global warming, which will have the most impact on the poor living in low-lying coastal regions. The alliance argues it is more prudent to invest in technology that will allow humanity to cope with a changed global climate. It also says mandatory emissions reduction policy will force a general increase in the prices of all goods and services that depend on energy as a production factor therefore, having the largest negative impact on the worlds poor Right now we have a government that has done nothing effective about global warming and doesnt listen to people like me scientists, said Mark Cane, professor of earth and climate science, and academic board member of the Earth Institute at Columbia University. They do listen to evangelicals, however, so [the Evangelical Climate Initiative] plays an important saving role. Matthew Trumbull is Web editor at Science & Theology News. 10 Golden Rules Of Weight Loss (Overview-Rules 1 and 2)

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By Scott Magers What you are about to read may change your life. Up until now you have probably struggled keeping the extra fat off your body and have become frustrated with diets that usually end up causing your weight to yo-yo up and down. You may have tried skipping meals, eating less, eliminating all carbohydrates, avoiding big meals late at night, maybe even sitting in a sauna until you were dehydrated, but none of these approaches work long term in keeping the fat off. The answer begins with the understanding of how your body utilizes its nutrients. There are 3 macro-nutrients: Protein, Carbohydrate and Fat. Putting these three together in the right ratios is like knowing the combination to a lock. When the precise numbers are dialed in the lock opens. Miss even one number and the lock stays shut. The difference between “fat storage mode” and “fat burning mode” is dialing in the right numbers every three to four hours from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed. The protein in your diet is especially important since it helps to build lean tissue, organs, enzymes and keeps our immune system strong and healthy. The carbohydrates help to fuel your energy needs and provide many useful nutrients, while fat keep our cells working right and allow us to stay in hormonal balance. Nutrition would be easy if you could eat any type of protein, carbohydrate or fatty food at any time but it just doesn’t work that way. Without knowing when to eat, what to eat, and how much to eat, you are at a real disadvantage when it comes to controlling your weight as well as maximizing your health. I would like to share with you Ten Golden Rules that will help you understand how to keep off the extra fat while delivering to you great energy and better health. http://www.mynutrisource.com Are Your Ready? Here We Go… Rule #1 Keep your blood sugar levels at or near balance from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep. This rule is listed as number 1 for a reason. Without applying this rule, hormonal balance, a lean body, cellular function, mental clarity and longevity becomes impossible. The foods that we eat will dictate how your body’s blood sugar will react from meal to meal, day in and day out. Certain foods cause your blood sugar levels to race out of control triggering an over production of the hormone insulin. This will quickly lead to accelerated fat storage, dangerous levels of triglycerides or blood fats to be released in the arteries and a sharp drop in blood sugar. This sharp drop will drain you of energy, cause you to crave sweets, zap your mental clarity and wipe out any chance you have of burning body fat. In other words you are literally wrecking your health. One week of eating with an emphasis on stabilizing blood sugar will blast your energy levels through the roof, not to mention make you feel better than you’ve ever felt before. Your body always strives to stay in balance. With your help the body can work a lot easier in reaching this state. With all systems operating a peak efficiency you achieve a new cellular harmony which starts to melt off extra fat, reduces stress hormone levels, improves your mood and leads to deeper sleep, causing a better overall repair and recovery from the previous day’s activities. How do you stabilize blood sugar you may ask? Well, the answer is revealed in rule #2. Rule #2 Blood sugar is balanced when the body receives the right amount and type of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. The ratios should be set at 50% slow releasing, low glycemic carbohydrates, 25% low fat, high quality proteins and 25% essential and nutritious fats. Be careful here. It’s easy to eat the wrong type of carbohydrate, protein and fats and be nowhere near balance. It’s also easy to over-eat too much at one sitting and force the body back into a fat storage mode. Portion sizes are always dictated by the lean body weight of each individual and their activity level. Exercise more and you must eat more. Exercise less and you must eat less at each sitting. Learning the exact amounts will be covered a little bit later. For now, let’s focus on each of the macro-nutrients as a starting point. Let’s begin with carbohydrates, since 1/2 of all your calories should come from carbohydrates. In this category you have three choices: Low glycemic, medium glycemic and high glycemic carbohydrates. Low glycemic carbohydrates enter the blood stream very slowly and therefore do not throw blood sugar levels out of balance. Because of this at least half of all the carbohydrates you consume should be low glycemic. The glycemic index is a rating of all carbohydrate foods and each food is given a score between 0-100. Surprisingly enough, a lot of foods that are considered diet foods are the highest on the scale. For instance, rice cakes, potatoes, white sticky rice, table sugar and most breads are at the top. The lowest choices are most vegetables, fruits, beans and certain pastas. Making a conscience effort to eat low glycemic carbohydrates at each meal will make a significant difference in your quest to achieve optimum health. The best way to learn the details about various carbohydrates is to study the glycemic index list until you become familiar with the foods you should include. Your next step is to eat the right amount of protein with each meal. Not including protein with your meal will deprive your brain, liver, muscles and all cells of the vary thing they are made of. If your body needs 100 grams of protein a day and you only feed it 50 grams, it won’t be long before your immune system, muscles and entire body will feel the effects. This is especially important if you are exercising regularly and have greater needs for protein due to the body’s repair and regeneration of muscle tissue. The quickest way for an athlete to reach a state of over-training is by not getting enough protein. Lean choices of protein include: egg whites, fish, turkey and chicken breast just to name a few. Higher fat proteins include: bacon, sausage, hot dogs, pork, whole milk and hamburgers. Remember our goal of balanced blood sugar. The right choices in the protein category make a significant difference in keeping our immune system strong and maximizing our lean muscle mass throughout our lives. Fats are next and deserve close attention. Many people think that fats should be avoided completely, but if you believe that myth you will never reach a state of hormonal balance. For one thing, our hormones are made from fats and need certain types of fats to function properly. The body’s first line of defense depends on the quality of fats in our diet. Leave out the essential fats and you leave yourself vulnerable for viruses and disease. By incorporating the essential oils, also referred to as Omega-3 and Omega-6 fats, along with monounsaturated fat (also called Omega-9) you will give your body an amazing boost in several areas vital to maintaining your health. First off, these fats help improve blood sugar levels, improve metabolic function, deliver key vitamins to their proper spots as well as helping the body with the process of storing its nutrients in the cell. Incidentally, many of the attention deficient disorders, attitude problems and general moods can be greatly improved by adding the right amounts of essential fats into the mix. There is currently an epidemic in essential oil deficiency in the world today due to the processing and refining done to most foods. We are challenged to get our good fats from fish, flax seeds or through certain supplements to assure maximum benefit. What most people don’t know is that not only are we deficient in what we need but we over consume the fats we should stay away from. Trans fat and hydrogenated oils do more damage to our health than just about any other single substance. Fats that have gone through a heating process change their shape and no longer nourish the cell. Instead, they damage the cell severely leading to many common diseases. Eliminating trans fats from your diet will elevate your health several levels overnight. Fried foods, packaged cookies, cakes and chips are all loaded with these dangerous fats and should be avoided. This is one area you would be best not to ignore. It could cost you everything in the long run. Look for Golden Weight Loss Rules 3-5 in Part 2 of this 3 part series. Can Writing Actually Improve Your Health?

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Patti Testerman According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, writing about stressful life events helped reduce symptoms of asthma and rheumatoid arthritis in patients with these chronic illnesses. The effects of the writing exercise were still evident four months later and resulted in clinically meaningful improvements in patient symptoms. Interestingly, studies showed that asthma patients who wrote about their most stressful life events showed a 19-percent improvement in lung function; similarly, rheumatoid arthritis patients had a 28-percent reduction in symptoms. These findings add to a growing body of evidence that links mental and emotional health to physical well-being. Although researchers arent sure exactly how expressive writing can lead to health improvements, they theorize that writing help people cope with stress, and stressas well all knowclearly impacts health. University of Texas at Austin psychologist and researcher James Pennebaker believes that regular journaling strengthens immune cells, called T-lymphocytes. He theorizes that writing about stressful events helps you come to terms with them, thus reducing the impact of these stressors on your physical health. Louise Moran, a nurse coordinator, has written about a patient who, during a serious illness, sent daily e-mails to friends and family about her illness, a practice the woman believes played a pivotal role in her healing process. Moran said another patient felt that journaling helped her create a new life after breast cancer. There have even been studies suggesting that journaling in healthy people actually improves the immune system. Wrinkles and Liver Spots are Signs of Aging, Mature Skin

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Danny Siegenthaler Wrinkles Gravity is the skins worst enemy. Weakening of collagen and elastin fibres causes reduced firmness of the skin, gravity pulls at the skin and causes it to sag, this in combination with a reduction in the fatty padding of the skin inevitably causes wrinkling of the skin tissue. Can Wrinkles Be Avoided? Environmental factors such as over exposure to the sun, smog, cigarette smoke can all have an adverse effect on your skin. In addition, you may also have inherited weaknesses from your parents that can cause premature aging of the skin. Despite these challenges, there are simple steps you can take to prevent wrinkles and remember - the earlier you start, the better! Wear Sunscreen, Always wear a hat with a wide brim when going outside remember, just because theres clouds does not mean theres no UV, Dont sunbathe, and Where possible, stay out of the sun between 10am to 3pm. As we progress through our 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond, our skin requires an appropriate skin care regime to maintain, as well as repair, the skin. The older you are when you start to protect and care for your skin, the less effective it will be, however, it is never too late to start. Treatments for Aging Skin There are a multitude of drugs, chemicals and procedures on the market these days, promising you that you can have the face of a baby in your 90s. We all know where to put that However, there are many natural and totally safe methods of treating aging skin and preventing premature signs of aging and Im not just referring to your facial skin, although this is the most visible and therefore the most important to many people. Using a natural skin care regime should apply to your entire body and not just to your face. Regularly use a clay mask to nourish your skin and remove impurities, cleanse your skin, tone it and last but not least moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. Do not use commercially available soaps unless absolutely necessary these soaps remove the protective acid mantle of your skin and dry it out. Instead, use an exfoliant followed by a cleanser to clean your skin and leave it smooth, invigorated and with its protective acid mantel in tact. Follow this by using a toner. Toners close open pores to prevent loss of moisture, resulting in firmer skin. The last step is to use a moisturiser. Moisturisers help to hydrate your skin, prevent loss of moisture and provide nourishment and nutrients for your skin to use in fulfilling its many functions. Liver spots or age spots Aging skin often develops unsightly blemishes, commonly called liver spots, which can appear on the face, neck and on the back of the hands. They are caused by the sun and accumulation of lipofuscin (pigments and/or wastes) that is derived from free radical damage of skin cells. Liver spots, also known as lentigines or lentigos, are sharply defined, rounded, brown or black, flat patches of skin. The epidermis (top surface layer) is expanding with more pigment, developing what looks like a large freckle. They may appear as a single spot or in clusters. Remember that your skin is an eliminatory organ and therefore it eliminates toxins from your body one reason for liver spots is that the eliminatory organs (Kidneys, Liver and Bowels) are not working as well as they should and therefore the skin takes up the slack. Removal of these impurities can be achieved using the above described skin care regime. In addition, when showering, use a Lufa or other type of skin brush on your bodys skin. This will not only remove dead skin cells, but promote blood circulation to the skin which in turn provides the skin with nutrients carried in the blood. Green Tea is a fantastic anti-oxidant and should be consumed regularly. Leafy green vegetables, fish such as salmon and tuna, nuts and fruits contain essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants to nourish your organs and help them perform their vital functions adequately. It is vitally important that you not only have a good skin care regime, but you should also have a good health regime, which includes a good diet, 8 -10 glasses of water per day and a regular exercise programme. This is very important and cannot be underestimated in its positive results on keeping you looking and feeling younger for longer. The Art of Website Storytelling

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Jerry Bader Marketing and its little brother advertising are all about storytelling. It doesn’t matter if you are talking about a display ad for a magazine or a Web-video for your website or for a Google Video Ad, if it doesn’t tell a story then it’s not going to do the job. When people asked us what we did, we used to tell them we were a website design firm that specialized in audio and video, today we tell them we are corporate storytellers. If you aren’t telling your story you are not going to meet your marketing goals. If you want to know how to tell your corporate story well, or even if you want to hire someone to do it for you, you at least need to know what makes a good story; and the best place to learn is the home of storytelling, Hollywood. Learn From The Experts If you want to learn how to tell your corporate story on the Web using video, you could do worse than reading Blake Snyder’s book, “Save The Cat.’ Blake is a successful Hollywood screenwriter and his book provides a lot of inspiration for aspiring screenwriters, but if you are like me and see marketing as the Art of Storytelling, then you can learn a lot about how to create Web-marketing videos and complete marketing websites that effectively deliver your marketing message and help you meet your business goals. Movies are made up of scenes and ‘beats.’ The average movie has about forty of these scenes. In order to organize these scenes, screenwriters describe each scene on a 3×5 index card with color-coded notations. The important thing for us as crass commercial business people intent on selling our products and services is that each card is a story in and of itself. Think of each card as a commercial for a specific product or service you sell. If you string a bunch of these together, one for each product or service, you have a multimedia website that tells your marketing story. Provide The Change and Solve The Conflict In ‘Save The Cat’ Snyder refers to colleague Robert McKee who has a technique that he uses, one that you may want to consider next time you are thinking of initiating a marketing campaign. Living in Las Vegas

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By David Chandler Las Vegas is one of the sunniest cities in the United States — with an average 320 days of sunshine per year and only 4.19 inches of rainfall. The winters in Las Vegas are like no other. Many of us do not pack away our shorts because we can wear them year round. Las Vegas has been the fastest growing city for over a decade now. It all started in 1993 with the opening of three mega-resorts: MGM Grand, Treasure Island, and Luxor. For ten years, an average of 4,000-6,000 new residents moved here each month. In December 2003, ten years later, over 8,000 new driver’s licenses were issued. Just as the people that live in Las Vegas are very diverse, so is the choice of where to live. People that are not from Las Vegas seem to believe that we all live on “The Strip.” Nothing is further from reality. The most popular areas to live, such as Green Valley, Southern Highlands, Anthem, and Summerlin are suburbs nowhere near The Strip. Southwest and Northwest Las Vegas are growing at astronomical rates and, literally, housing cannot be built fast enough to handle our growth. Housing Approximately 34% of the households in Las Vegas are rentals. You will find an abundance of rental options throughout Las Vegas, ranging from apartments and condominiums to exclusive corporate housing to single-family homes. The average apartment rent (for all apartments) is $738 with a vacancy rate of less than 5%. Apartments offer some of the best lifestyles to Nevada residents. Apartments in Nevada are different than most states. They are new, larger than most and offer all of the amenities that newer housing communities offer. Many of the newer communities offer 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units, with or without garages. Las Vegas real estate is still reasonable. It has increased substantially over the past year, but continues to offer some of the most affordable housing in the country. Our diversity in housing choices allow you to choose from town houses to condominiums, gated living to planned communities, high rises to manufactured homes. The quality of life in Las Vegas is generally better than in most areas. Las Vegas offers top-notch exercise facilities, excellent restaurants, the advantages of any other city, plus much more. The average homeowner is 22 years old, so there is plenty of opportunity to advance in your career. Wages Nevada ranks in the upper 25 percentile of wages offered throughout the United States. This coupled with our low cost of living makes Nevada very attractable to all professionals. Some media outlets have talked about the lower level of education in Las Vegas, but our average median income continues to topple most major markets. Working in Las Vegas Casinos are no longer just gaming; they are entertainment, dining, retail and hospitality. It also is home to many financial institutions such as Citibank, Household Credit Services and First Bank of Marin. Technology companies have recently discovered the benefits of relocating to Nevada, as the infrastructure is new, reliable, and expandable so our technology sector has experienced substantial growth. Healthcare, education, and professional services have maintained a rapid level of growth just to keep up with the booming population. Churches Las Vegas has nearly 600 churches, temples, and synagogues representing more than 63 faiths. Transportation Public Transportation has also become a priority. A monorail system launched operations in July 2004. Parks and Recreation As communities are being developed, so are community parks that offer soccer fields, baseball diamonds, swimming pools, skateboard parks, manmade lakes, volleyball courts, and a variety of other types of recreation. Wedding Invitations - How to Make The Right Choice

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By L Hayes One of the first steps you will make in preparing for your wedding is choosing the invitations. Keep in mind that the invitations to your wedding will be the first announcement seen by your invited guests. Therefore, the invitations should reflect your personal style, encompass the theme or style of the wedding, and provide information to invitees. Here are a few tips on how to make the right choice. It is important when choosing your wedding invitations that appropriate time frames be taken into account. Typically, invitations going to local guests are mailed out four weeks prior to the wedding. Out-of-town guests will need more time to make plans. Six weeks is a good time frame. Modern brides are now notifying their guests of their upcoming wedding with a Save the Date card. This is a small card listing the bride and grooms name and the date of the nuptials. It is usually mailed out six to eight months before the wedding. It is important to note that this does not replace the formal invitation. Just as you would do for many aspects of the wedding, ordering invitations should also include an outlined and executed contract. The contract will contain the style of paper, font, coloring, information, and delivery date of the invitations. Make sure that prior to signing any contract you have the opportunity to see samples of your chosen invitations. When choosing a printer, you may decide to work with an individual or a smaller printing company. Smaller vendors typically have a better selection. However, larger stationary stores or bridal shops will normally be less expensive. In addition to choosing the style of your wedding invitations, we should also consider postage expense. For example, sending out a one-page invitation would obviously cost less than including RSVP cards or inserts. Keep in mind, the more paper, the more money it will cost to mail. Don ‘t forget to add the cost of stamps on your RSVP envelopes when calculating your budget. The good news is that you have a number of options to help save you money without sacrificing quality and style. Make sure you order your invitations in plenty of time. Rush orders are much more costly. You must order between 10-15 extra invitations with envelopes just in case of addressing mistakes or last minute guest additions. Skipping this step could cost you big money. Here is a look at some of the decisions you will have to make: Paper Options Card Stock Matte type paper, available in a nice variety of weights and colors. Cotton Fiber Strong paper made from 100% cotton. Deckle Edge Handmade paper with torn-looking edges. Glassine Thin, shiny paper typically used for envelopes. Handmade Customized paper made from your choice of natural materials to include vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Laid Lightweight paper with a textured finish. Linen Semi-rough paper resembling linen fabric. Marbled Paper with a marbling look. Overlay Translucent or delicate paper placed on top of other paper. Parchment Translucent and cloudy paper with a gorgeous appearance. Vellum Translucent, lightweight paper generally used for overlay. Printing Options Calligraphy Created by hand or done with calligraphy font from a computer, rich and elegant. Emboss Ink-free and stylish, letters are pushed from the backside of the paper. Engraving Elegant printing with raised lettering. Letterpress Handcrafted appearance with distinct designs. Offset Flat and basic but available in a variety of colors. Thermography Glossy and polished with raised lettering on the front and smooth on the back of the paper. In summary, give yourself plenty of time to choose your wedding invitations. There are so many options to choose from, you will have no problem finding the perfect style at the right price to compliment your wedding day. Self Employed Loans in UK

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christian_Phelps]Christian Phelps Are you a someone who works for himself and wants to take a loan for debt consolidation, home improvements, car loan, caravan loan, house deposit, business purposes, Christmas cash, funeral, holiday, boat loan, motorbike loan, cosmetic surgery or a wedding? If the answer is yes then self employed loan is what you need to look out for. What are self employed loans? Self-employed loans are those loans that are taken by the self-employed people from the different lending institutions. Who is a self employed person? A self employed person could be an individual who operates a business or profession as a sole proprietor, a partner in a partnership, an independent contractor or a consultant. How are the self-employed loans different from other loans?Since the loan is given out to individuals who have a variable income, lending institutions find it difficult to evaluate their loan application. The loan rate depends on the fact whether you have certified accounts. In case of employed people their salary certificate becomes an easy source of information to gauge their income. The income tax returns could also be looked at but the difficulty arises because they are mostly understated. In case of self employed loans the business should not be less than two years old. More flexibility has been incorporated into the repayment schedule of these loans. Some of the features that have been incorporated into the repayment schedule are overpayment, underpayment, and payment holidays. Types of self employed loans Self employed loans can be either secured or unsecured. Secured self employed loans are available at lower interest rates because the loan amount is given against some security. The security is usually home and real estate. This type is loan is suitable for taking a larger loan. Unsecured loans are available at higher interest rates and will not require any security. Since the interest rates are high unsecured loans are better suited for taking smaller amount loans. How convenient is it to procure these loans? Earlier self employed loans used to be difficult to find and expensive to procure. However now with more people being self employed, self employed loans are more widely available and are more affordable. Even if the borrower has an adverse credit history or bad credit rating, such as mortgage arrears, credit card problems or payment defaults these loans are available at a price. The rates vary from 10.9-27.60% APR with an average of around 17.5%. Most lenders are offering self employed loans with limited documentation or no documentation. This is highly favourable to the self employed who cannot forward documented income. In place of this provision lenders may offer self employed loans at a slightly higher interest rate (1-2% higher than normal interest rates) or will have a requirement for additional qualifications. Lenders may also compensate the high risk in self employed loans with a higher down payment. Importance of a good credit history Credit history always plays a crucial role in deciding the different aspects of self employed loans. Good credit history provides benefits that no other qualification criteria can provide. Good credit score makes it easier for the borrower to get the approval for self employed loans. With a good credit score the loans to value ratio can reach up to 90%. Moreover it may help in reducing the down payment to as low as 20% which otherwise goes as high as 40%. Current scenario of self employed loans in UK There are approximately 2.75 million people who are self employed in UK. With the rising number of self employed in UK, self employed loans have become an emerging category in the loans market. A self employed borrower is the one who owns 25% or more of the business from which income is derived. Self employed loans are not new to the loans market; however, they have recently been adorned with flexibility and ease with respect to a self employed. With this new outlook towards self employed loans, self employed should be careful not to misuse this freedom. Refrain from overstating your income and exercise self control. Then, there is no stating the fact that self employed loans will prove integral to strengthening your very own micro economy. Finally, self employed loan programmes vary from one lender to another. So, it might be a good idea to look around. There will be lenders who would appropriately charge for self employed. All you need to do is to keep shopping. Christian Phelps is a Masters in Accounting and Financial Management from Lancaster University Management School . He has been working with loan for self employed since his academics got over. You can find dozens of great examples online, from traditional to funny wedding vows. Now you have to choose what type of vow you are going to use. Traditional wedding vows are like an old song, and some might say they’re a little boring, but traditional wedding vows are timeless, simple and perfect for any couple. Attendees will take comfort in the classic recitations as well make those who are already married remember back to when they too were reciting the exact same lines. But it’s true too that traditional wedding vows can seem stale to modern brides and grooms. The words are too formal, submissive and serious. Using funny wedding vows can lighten the mood and still can convey the seriousness of your intentions. It’s been said that the best way to your lover’s heart is through laughter. Make them laugh and you will enjoy many fun years ahead. But how do you go about writing these wedding vows, you ask. It can be very difficult to find the words, but there are some guidelines that might help you write your own vows. First write down as many reasons on a sheet of paper, “Why I love (FUTURE SPOUSE)”. Now write down as many funny things about your relationship that you can think of. Now write down any quirky little habits or aspects about your future spouse that you can think of, and why you love them more because of it. Finally, write down what you are prepared to offer your future spouse today, tomorrow, and when you are both 90 and gray haired. Once you have this list of ideas, start to join them into sentences. You will find that you have just created a very thoughtful wedding vow. Good Luck! Do Friends With Benefits Make The ‘Best’ Friends?

Friday, March 14th, 2008

By Lisa Quirke Friends with benefits is defined by UrbanDictionary.com as “Two friends who have a sexual relationship without being emotionally involved. Typically two good friends who have casual sex without a monogamous relationship or any kind of commitment” FWB relationships are very common today especially among teenagers. But what happens when a lonely 40something girl finds herself in one. A good thing? Or maybe not so much… Thanksgiving weekend I was out with two of my best friends. We were out playing pool and having a few beers. After a couple of games, two guys came by and started talking to my friend. One, who I’ll call China, was oh so hot and happened to be a long time friend of my friend, K. We all went to a private party after the bar closed. By the time we left the party, China and I were getting to know each very well. Long story short, I took him home about 7:30 the next morning. The end. Or so I thought. I really didn’t think I’d see or hear from him again, so imagine my surprise when, out of nowhere, he emailed me the following Monday. Thus began our FWB relationship. I convinced myself it was not only what I wanted, but also what I needed. I’d been single almost 3 years, alone almost 3 years. I yearned for someone’s touch, for the physical closeness. I wanted to be in someone’s arms even if it was without strings. It went along beautifully right up until it didn’t. One night the end of December, we were sitting in hot tub after a few too many beers. We were discussing relationships. Next thing I know, he says that his problem in relationships is that he always chooses the wrong girl; he should be with someone loving and caring like me. Before falling asleep, he told me I was perfect. Shit! What was he trying to do? Didn’t he know that saying such things to a woman you’re sleeping with is a fatal error? It was downhill from there. Downhill sucked. We still talked regularly-daily really. We just didn’t see each other much. During one of our daily email conversations, I admitted that I had begun developing feelings and wondered what his thoughts were. He, of course, wanted to keep things as they were. Downhill began to accelerate. Soon we weren’t talking as much and saw each other even less. Finally, sometime in February, we were out at a local club. He was extremely drunk and, the next thing I knew, he was gone. Ditched me. That was enough for me. I was completely crushed, devastated. It was the beginning of the end. We had reached the bottom of the hill. I emailed and told him I was done. That my heart wouldn’t let me invest anymore of myself in him. I ran into him two weekends ago at the club. He was all over me right up until fakeboobgirl showed up and then, he wasn’t. Once again my heart crumbled. I told K that China was a fucker and I wanted to go home. At 2 a.m., China texted wondering where I was. Said he thought he must have lost me. He has no idea. There are two very sad parts to this story. The first is that in all of this, we lost each other as friends. The friendship has been completely destroyed. Last week, it seemed he was actually almost hiding from me at the club. But even more sad? What could have been. We lost whatever might have been. And something in my heart tells me that what might have been would have been wonderfully incredible.
